On June 17, 2017, The First Session of the First Governing Board of International Centre for Higher Education Innovation (ICHEI) under the auspices of UNESCO (Shenzhen, China) was held in Wuzhou Guesthouse of Shenzhen.


ICHEI was established by the Shenzhen Municipal Government in cooperation with UNESCO on June 8th, 2016, located in the Southern University of Science and Technology, it is also the tenth Education Sector UNESCO Category 2 centre in the world and the first second-class higher education institution of UNESCO in the world. The session discussed and approved the organization statement of the Governing Board, elected Professor Freddy Boey, the Vice President and of Nanyang Technological University of Singapore as the chairman of the Governing Board, and proposed amendments to the key points of ICHEI's Mid-term Strategic Plan (2017-2022).


LI Ming, director of ICHEI, delivered an opening speech and issued appointment letters to the Members, reporting on the main work of ICHEI since its establishment. Professor ZHAO Jianhua introduced the key points of the ICHEI's Mid-term Srategic Plan (2017-2022). Professor Freddy Boey presided over the discussion at the meeting, and the Members made detailed discussions on the integration of resources and project implementation, and provided valuable suggestions for the development of ICHEI. Professor Freddy Boey and Director LI Ming respectively proposed amendments to the key points of ICHEI's Mid-term Strategic Plan. Based on "clarifying logic and distinguishing the priorities", ICHEI is required to absorb the suggestions and experience of the representatives and formulate more scientific and reasonable project implementation and academic research plan.
