IIOE Egypt National Centre Launch Ceremony
The IIOE Egypt National Centre Launch Ceremony will be jointly organised by UNESCO-ICHEI, Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Supreme Council of Universities, UNESCO Priority Africa and External Relations Sector, UNESCO Regional Bureau for Education in the Arab States (Beirut), and Ain Shams University (ASU).
The International Institute of Online Education (IIOE) was launched by UNESCO-ICHEI together with 11 African and Asian HEIs, 9 global EdTech enterprises, and 4 HEIs in China in December 2019, with the vision to support the realisation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4) and the Education 2030 Agenda by empowering the digital transformation of higher education systems. IIOE National Centre initiative was proposed by UNESCO-ICHEI in order to better serve the needs of HEIs in developing countries in terms of digital transformation. IIOE National Centres will serve as national and regional hubs for higher education digital transformation through building national IIOE networks, capacity building, curricula development and sharing, research and technical support.
The establishment of the IIOE Egypt National Centre will serve to empower the country's higher education through digital transformation, in alignment with the nation's development strategies, for a more sustainable, inclusive and equitable future.
