16 May 2022|UNESCO-SFIT Africa Project Outcome Meeting
16 May 2022, the International Centre for Higher Education Innovation under the auspices of UNESCO (Shenzhen, China) (hereafter referred to as "UNESCO-ICHEI") and UNESCO are jointly organising an outcome meeting for the UNESCO-SFIT Africa project. The meeting is held under the framework of the 3rd World Higher Education Conference. Representatives from the Chinese Government, the Shenzhen Municipal Government, national governments and quality assurance agencies of the 10 UNESCO-SFIT Africa project countries, high-level representatives from UNESCO, and international experts in higher education will attend the meeting.
The UNESCO Shenzhen Funds-in-Trust (hereinafter referred to as "UNESCO-SFIT") was founded in 2015 by UNESCO and the Shenzhen Municipal Government of China to support developing countries' to strengthen their higher education systems, improve higher education quality, and promote the internationalisation of higher education. The Shenzhen Municipal Government contributed 2 million US Dollars to UNESCO to support the implementation of projects in Asian and African countries. The UNESCO-SFIT Asia project focused on ICT-driven innovation in higher education and was implemented in Cambodia and Sri Lanka from 2016-2019. The UNESCO-SFIT Africa project focused on strengthening quality assurance systems in higher education and was implemented in 10 African countries: Egypt, Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, Togo, Mali, the Gambia, Niger, Namibia, Malawi, and Zambia. Initiated in 2017, the UNESCO-SFIT Africa project has greatly enhanced the capacity of higher education quality assurance systems in 10 African countries, consolidated regional quality assurance networks, effectively contributing to the quality of higher education in Africa.
The meeting aims to showcase the outcomes of the UNESCO-SFIT Africa project and discuss ways and mechanisms to leverage the project outcomes for the future development of higher education in Africa. Quality assurance of online and blended learning and teaching and potential topics of future cooperation will also be discussed in the meeting.

This session will start with a general presentation of the UNESCO-SFIT Africa project delivered by the project officer and internal evaluator to give an overall picture of the project design, implementation, and results of internal evaluation. A video will provide a vivid display of the interesting stories of the projects in the field featuring multiple stakeholders and participants from project countries as well as UNESCO experts, UNESCO regional and national representatives, and global experts.
