IIOE Egypt National Centre Project

In line with theEgyptian national strategy to promote digital education, UNESCO-ICHEI and Ain Shams University (Egypt) jointly established the IIOE Egypt National Centre in 2022 aiming to build a national hub supporting the digital transformation of higher education teaching and learning in Egypt. Endorsed and supported by the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Egyptian Supreme Council of Universities, the IIOE Egypt National Centre is hosted by Ain Shams University (Egypt), and has developed a network of over 20 Egyptian HEIs by September 2022.

In order to support the initiatives of IIOE global partner HEIs in digital transformation, UNESCO-ICHEI launched the Research Series on the digital transformation of higher education including the Research Report on Digital Transformation of Higher Education Teaching and Learning and 3 handbooks at UNESCO's 3rd World Higher Education Conference (WHEC2022). This research collection provides a theoretical framework as well as practical insights for higher education policymakers, leaders, and teachers to inform them of initiatives and actions in the digital transformation of higher education.

Within this context, UNESCO-ICHEI and IIOE Egypt National Centre (hosted by Ain Shams University) jointly launched the national project entitled "Empowering Higher Education Institutions for Digital Teaching and Learning in Egypt" in July 2022. The project's overall objective is to support digital teaching and learning in Egyptian HEIs, and empower IIOE Egypt National Centre to fulfil as a hub driving the digital transformation of Egyptian HEIs. The project shall consist of Master teacher training on digital teaching and learning, Egyptian University President Leadership Forum and Policy Dialogue, and will engage an active participation of 23 Egypt HEIs under the IIOE Egypt National Centre.

· Production of a customized master teacher training package on digital teaching and learning for IIOE Egypt National Centre partner HEIs.

· Train and certify 60 Egyptian Master Teachers in digital teaching and learning.

· Production of three Elite blended Courses covering 3 disciplines.

· Establish an Egyptian teacher community in digital teaching and learning.

· Production of a policy brief supporting Egyptian HEI's formulation and revision of policies for the digital transformation of teaching and learning.
