On November 14-15, 2015, the Expert Consultation Meeting of UNESCO-ICHEI was held at Shenzhen Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). More than 20 experts and scholars from home and abroad attended the meeting, including Professor WANG Libing, Higher Education Commissioner of UNESCO Bangkok Office, Professor LI Xiaoming, Assistant to the President of Peking University, and other famous scholars delivered speeches. Mr. Ngoy Mak, Director of the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education of Cambodia was invited at the meeting, FAN Kun, deputy director of the Shenzhen Municipal Education Bureau, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

This meeting focused on the application of information and communication technology (ICT) in higher education, including ICT and the internationalization of higher education governance, the path and method of ICT in the application of higher education, and cases of colleges and universities using ICT to achieve innovative development and other topics.

At the closing ceremony, Professor WANG Libing believed that ICT has both cost-saving and expensive sides, and it has brought some new changes to the management, decision-making and process of schools or universities. In particular, the application of new technologies has generated massive amounts of data, and how to keep the data open and accessible is a matter of concern to UNESCO. Professor LI Ming believed that society needs to improve the cultivation of first-class innovative talents through the application of such a technology, and it is necessary to reform the methods, means and platforms of university education in a timely manner. On the other hand, it is also necessary to provide various levels and categories of higher education for young people who cannot go to university. It is an inevitable trend to concentrate on a variety of products to cultivate more young people. SUSTech is a young school that is willing to use technological advancement to do more explorations and form a platform through integration to contribute to higher education in developing countries in Asia and Africa.
